We have launched a dynamic Ad Insertion and audience metering solutions, enabling monetization for payTV delivery to some of the largest DTH and HFC payTV operators in MENA and the SAARC nations.
Advertisement
SMT/IDS provide the technical features for advertisement presentation in the set top box software and a PC tool.
At operator side will be collected the advertisement data = AD (text, pictures + parameter, boot video) with
the PC tool and then converted in an DVB OTA file. This OTA file will be transmitted over DVB S/C over the
operator head end and will be received/saved in the SMT - set top box . The different kind of advertisement
data will be show then on the TV at end customer side.

Implementation
The STB software handle/show the different advertisement formats (text/pictures/boot video) on different places on the screen/dialogues.

● Use PNG/JPG/BMP/Gif picture format (max. size 800x500 pixel) → depend from platform
● Show full, partly transparency or transparency pictures → depend from platform
● Show depend on SID or DVB service triple (ONID, TPID, SID) or Bouquet ID → for each channel can be show a different advertisement
● Display time (permanent / for a specific duration)

Audience Measurement
Introduction
“Wikipedia”:
Audience measurement measures how many people are in an audience, usually in relation to radio listenership and television viewership, but also in relation to newspaper and magazine readership and, increasingly, web traffic on websites. Sometimes, the term is used as pertaining to practices which help broadcasters and advertisers determine who is listening rather than just how many people are listening. In some parts of the world, the resulting relative numbers are referred to as audience share, while in other places the broader term market share is used. This broader meaning is also called audience research.
Summary – to obtain information on how individuals use the media over a specific time.
Why it is important?
Various industries from marketing, advertisement until content provider want measure the distribution of its contents. With an exact number of dissemination of content all of them can manage better the distribution channels and the revenue.
For example:
● a content/film producer or media owner can calculate better the licence fee
● a TV network operator can optimized his cost for the content procurement
● a TV network operator can optimized/increase his revenue for advertisement transmission
● an advertisement provider/sponsors have an overview about the distribution/usage
Which information are important?
Coverage:
The percent of consumers that could receive a media. It‘s the ability to view and not the actual viewing.
Audience share:
The percentage of consumers accounted for by a particular media at a specific point in time.
Audience rating:
The percentage of consumers accounted for by a particular media in proportion of total possible consumers.
Frequency:
The number of times consumers used a particular media.
IDS solution
The STB software contains the IDS feature/API to collecting different informations at running time. The collected log data will be sent as binary file to the FTP server at customer side.
On the HTTP server (IDS side) runs an Web analysis tool over that the operator can access the processed/analysed data from the customer FTP.

Implementation
The STB software log different states/situations and user actions (watched channel, dialogue usage …) to have comprehensive analysis possibilities:
● Which channel/service watched the customer and how long/how often
● Volume usage – check whether the customer reduced volume level during the presentation of TV

Web analysis tool
The IDS web software can processed/analysed the saved log data (IDS binary format) and display the result in various chart representations. The user has some input/selection options to control the results.
